So let’s get this straight: just hours after the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was announced, Republicans in Congress and those running for president made their own announcement: that they are absolutely, positively, unalterable opposed to President Obama’s nominee to fill the Supreme Court vacancy.
Absolutely, positively, unalterably opposed.
Even though the president hasn’t nominated anyone and at this point they have no idea who that nominee will be.
This Republican reaction is selfish.
It’s undemocratic and even anti-democratic (and that’s lower-case democratic, not upper-case Democratic).
It’s morally reprehensible and morally bankrupt.
And it’s just plain wrong.
