The journal Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology – no, The Curmudgeon is not a subscriber – reports that a new hand-washing technique developed by the World Health Organization has been found to be more effective than the hand-washing technique developed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Curmudgeon offers two observations.
First: really? A new hand-washing technique? Are we now to believe we’ve been doing it wrong all these years?
Second: With our relatively recent insistence on American exceptionalism and resistance to all things non-American, like, oh, Muslims with their Sharia law that apparently poses an imminent threat to our way of life, does anyone seriously believe that Americans will adopt a hand-washing technique developed by non-Americans when they already have a widely accepted technique developed by an American government agency?
Okay, a third observation: A new hand-washing technique? Seriously?
