An Act of Overt Hostility

It’s time to renew that health insurance you found on the exchange that was created as part of Obamacare – you know, the insurance you couldn’t afford until Obamacare came along. You lead a busy life, though, and it’s hard to find time to sit down, sift through the choices, and make a selection.

But it’s Sunday, and you have a few spare minutes, so now’s the ideal time to address this – and it probably is for lots of people.

Too bad. In honor of the open enrollment period for Obamacare, the Trump administration has announced that it will close the web site you need to do your homework for 12 hours for every Sunday but one for the rest of the open enrollment period.

An open enrollment period, by the way, that the Trump administration cut in half, from 90 to 45 days.

Because if Congress won’t kill Obamacare, the Trump administration is going to do everything it can to do the killing itself, from slashing funding for outreach and publicity to threatening not to pay insurers, thereby scaring some insurers right out of the program, to making sure that the site is down for “routine maintenance” when working people actually have time to visit it.

These people are not nice, and they’re determined to hurt working people any way they can.
