Instant Icon

The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl last Sunday. Four days later, a local television news program showed the radio announcer’s call of the last play of the game – a call damn near no one heard because everyone was watching the game on television, not listening to it on the radio, a call that was noteworthy in no way at all – and declared the call…

Iconic.

From non-existent to “iconic” in just four days.

Sort of devalues the very concept of icon and diminishes the standing of those things and people that really are, doesn’t it?
