Throw the Book at Him!

That’s what they did to The Curmudgeon, who on Tuesday night committed what is a crime in Haddonfield, New Jersey:

He left his car parked on the street overnight.

Seriously:  in Bumf–k, New Jersey it is a crime, punishable by a citation and a fine of $23, for having the audacity to leave your own car parked overnight on the street in front of your own home.

Ah, Mayberry. Where Barney Fife has all the time in the world to check the streets for parked cars. (But it’s pretty!).

Sounds like the perfect time to cash in those $23.00 worth of pennies you have collected this past year. Be thankful you parked in the proper direction, for that violation would require $50.00 more of those copper beauties. I would love to be present when you pour that coffee can of coinage at the township cashiers window, and patiently watch as it’s counted. Frustrating for the counter, satisfying for the resident. Sounds fair to me. And THEN….with a wink, ask for a receipt. Mission accomplished!

What a great idea! Before hauling it all over, though, I’d better check to see first, if they accept cash, second, if they accept coins, third, whether they accept $23 worth of pennies (which I think I have), and fourth whether they need to be rolled. It would SO be worth the work! Thanks for the suggestion. Your mind is devious, sir!
